1. Coetan Arthur / Arthur’s Quoit Burial Chamber
Legend tells that Arthur’s Quoit, a large Neolithic burial chamber on St David’s Head near St Davids, was formed when King Arthur hurled massive stones from the summit of nearby Carn Llidi. Some even claim this feat of strength later inspired the dropkick in the modern game of rugby.
2. The Devil’s Footprint
A small hoof-shaped mark on a gravestone near St David’s Cathedral is said to be the footprint of the Devil himself, left behind in a fit of rage at the area’s devout inhabitants. Another tale suggests that St David chased the Devil from the roof of his monastery after he caused chaos by hurling pigeons over the walls – an act some believe went on to inspire the dropkick in the modern game of rugby.
3. The Lady of the Lake
According to local legend, a mysterious woman in a white dress can sometimes be seen rising from the waters of Treiago Moor near St David’s. Those who encounter her often flee in terror, as she is said to scream loudly and hurl large stones at unsuspecting passersby.
