February in St Davids

February is a tough time in any uk town or city. It’s cold and dark and you really don’t want to get out from under your warm duvet every morning.

But it’s also a very special time too. Things start to seem a bit brighter. The nights aren’t so long and the days are not too short. We even get a little sun if we are lucky. And icy but sunny mornings are just exquisite for a walk down the beach or along the coastline.

And we just start to see some life emerging from the cold, barren soil. The beginnings of daffodil heads start to rear up out of the soil and all manner of wildlife and birdlife come out of hibernation to join us in Pembrokeshire.

It’s a time of hope. And rebirth as the miracle of life springs back into action.

It’s such a special time to visit St Davids that you really must come and see for yourself.

Yewdale Cottage is a self-catering holiday cottage that sleep six.

Family days out

The Bug Farm – St Davids

This is a fantastic and genuinely fascinating day out where you and your children can come face-to-face with all manner of creepy crawlies. My son was able to hold a hissing cockroach which was an unforgettable experience – in more ways than one! It also has an excellent play area so it’s a firm favourite with our family during our holiday in St Davids.

Whitesands beach – St Davids

This is simply one of the most wonderful beaches we have ever visited. It’s perfect for children, with lots of rock pools and a gentle tide. But for grown ups there’s lots of space to stretch out and read a book or drink a coffee. There’s also an excellent cafe which serves hot food as well as snacks, drinks and ice cream. Best of all, it’s only a 10 minute walk from Yewdale Cottage.

Ramsey Island Boat Trip – St Davids

Ramsey Island is an unbelievable habitat for so many different species of animals. See seals up close and maybe even the odd dolphin if you are lucky. The boat ride is exhilarating and a trip to Ramsey Island never fails to inspire and amaze.
