The bluebell woods are an amazing place to visit while holidaying in St Davids, Pembrokeshire. Solva is a fishing village just a five minute car journey away from Yewdale holiday Cottage. It’s amazing to walk hand-in-hand with a loved one through these gorgeous woods.

Blue Lagoon, Abereiddy

The Blue Lagoon is a still and magical body of water. Carved into the slate grey cliffs of Pembrokeshire, The Blue Lagoon is an amazing place to visit and maybe even have a dip in. Do be careful though. The water can get extremely cold.

Caer Bwdy Bay

Just around the corner from the beautiful Carefai (the closest beach to our holiday cottage) is Caer Bwdy Bay. It’s a real hidden treasure and holiday-makers don’t tend to know about it. So you might find yourself all alone on this beautiful patch of sand.

November in St Davids

The London Film Music Orchestra

You might think that November is a lost month. Just waiting for Christmas. It’s cold and wet. And dark and grey. But there is so much going on, especially in St Davids. But, for a tiny weenie city, St Davids always has a lot going on.

Firstly, you should check out The London Film Music Orchestra who are playing Hans Zimmer compositions in St Davids cathedral. There is a light show as well which will truly make this a magisterial evening’s entertainment. This takes place on the 15th November.

Secondly, there’s an amazing poetry walk at the tourist information centre on the 16th November. Johnathan Davidson takes you on an amazing literary adventure followed by a workshop all about poetry. You must book in advance for this fun packed day.

Lastly, Lewis Barfoot plays the Cwtch Coffee house on the 22nd November. Barfoot is a highly rated, talented singer-songwriter who creates seminal folk and nature-inspired music.

Fireworks Night in St Davids

Fireworks Night, The Sloop Inn 2024

Fireworks night is such a special night to spend with family and friends. It feels like a celebration of the upcoming winter and is a great antidote to the blues that we all experience around this time of year.

It’s always especially amazing to enjoy this moment with children. Watching them hold a sparkler or their faces during the display is a wonderful moment.

If you’re holidaying in St Davids then there are a lot of options for you. And self-catering Yewdale Cottage is a great location for a family holiday or a romantic getaway to see a fireworks display.

The above picture shows The Sloop Inn. This is in a little fishing village called Porthgain. It’s a really wonderful display as the fireworks are shot out to sea and the mirror image of them on the ocean is quite wonderful.

Also Solva has a fantastic display. You can sit and eat hot chips from the fish and chip shop while watching the colourful and spectacular display.

Beach Yoga, Whitesands Bay

It’s not hard to feel spiritually connected in a place like St Davids, Pembrokeshire. The cliff walks and nourishing sound of the waves will fill you with serenity regardless. But if you want to do a little more to feel connected with your surroundings, then here’s some suggestions.

Beach Yoga is a real up-and-coming version of traditional yoga practice. Early mornings or at sunset you can head down to the beach and try out your downward facing dog as the tide tickles your ankles.

You can do this on your own or with trained professionals. The Wild Yoga Studio is fantastic and always welcome newcomers.

Romantic locations in St Davids

St Davids is such a special place to let go of outside stresses and anxiety and just be the person(s) you love. We hear all the time that couples spend memory-creating joyous times at Yewdale Cottage.

Of course there’s nothing more romantic than a stroll down the beach, arm in arm with your bae. Whitesands Bay is a perfect location for this with its silky soft sand and beautiful views.

Then if you walk to the Rams Nose, you and your beloved can stare out at the horizon and discuss your lives together.

As well as this there are tonnes of cozy cafes and restaurants to share your holiday in. And of course walking round St David’s cathedral hand-in-hand is an especially romantic way to spend time together.

Fun fact – The Welsh language has a special word for a loving cuddle – cwtch.
