One of our favourite walks while staying in our Yewdale holiday cottage in St Davids, Pembrokeshire is walking from Whitesands Bay round the edge of the coastline to St David’s Head where, on a good day, you can just about make out the coast of Ireland.
It’s one of those places where you feel like you are staring into infinity, the blue-green water providing an endless carpet until it hits the horizon. There’s also a vast array of sea-life to see on such a walk and you can often spot seals and dolphins playing merrily or raising their young on the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline.
As well as this, you may well encounter some wild horses as you wander up the rugged track from Whitesands Bay to St David’s Head. They are truly beautiful creatures, often brown or white, and it’s a really special moment when you cone face-to-face with these friendly faces.
You can easily finish your walk off by cutting across the wild, heather-filled moorland and heading back to the car park at Whitesands.
It’s truly such a special trek and is very much suited to novice walkers. And once you reach St David’s Head, you’ll witness one of the most beautiful scenes on God’s green earth.
